Ready To Lift's return to winning form in the Kingston Town Stakes surprised many but not her trainer Gerald Ryan who is confident she can keep the momentum going, maybe even until the first Tuesday in November.

The mare steps up 400 metres from the Kingston Town to the 2400 of Saturday's Colin Stephen Quality, the same distance as her Group One assignment in the Metropolitan a week later.

Stablemate Hus Der Lieften is set to continue his Spring Champion Stakes build-up in the Dulcify Quality (1800m).

Ready To Lift has won three 2400m races and finished second to Scenic Shot over the same trip in the Brisbane Cup.

"She has trained on terrific," Ryan said.

"She was a bit underdone when she won but I was very happy with her going into the Kingston Town.

"But it does get tougher from now on.

"She will probably have to carry a big weight again on Saturday but then she drops to 52-1/2 in the Metrop."

Ready To Lift carried 58kg when she beat Voice Coach by a short head in the Kingston Town last Saturday week.

She was one of 16 nominations for the Group Three Colin Stephen for which Victorian mare Courtney was a late entry, while there were 14 for the Dulcify.

Hus Der Lieften finished fourth to star colt Denman in the $1 million Golden Rose (1400m) before his unlucky 1-1/2 lengths sixth to filly Lovemelikearock in last week's Spring Stakes (1600m) at Newcastle.

Ryan believes the 1800 metres will be to the colt's liking but is also hoping there is some pace in the race.

"The speed of the staying races in Sydney is a concern," he said.

"Hus Der Lieften is not a certainty to run but he is copping his racing really well so at this stage there is no reason not to.

"Hugh Bowman will ride him on Saturday while Nash Rawiller will be on him in the Spring Champion."

Glyn Schofield sticks with Ready To Lift in both the Colin Stephen and the Metropolitan having won five races on the mare.

Ryan's Melbourne Cup plan is to bypass the Caulfield Cup in favour of the Moonee Valley Cup a week later as a lead-up to the Melbourne Cup on November 3.

Hus Der Lieften is also a chance to head to Melbourne with the Victoria Derby an option if he performs well over the next couple of weeks.
