Ready To Lift will not run in the Melbourne Cup with trainer Gerald Ryan pulling the pin on her campaign after her flop in the Moonee Valley Cup.

"She's going straight to the paddock," Ryan said.

"She's had five starts in Melbourne and never looked like winning a race there.

"Whether she's simply not good enough for that grade or can't handle that way of going I don't know."

Ready To Lift was never in the hunt in Saturday's Moonee Valley Cup (2500m) where she was worse than midfield for most of the race and beat just two home in the Group Two event won by The Sportsman.

The six-year-old mare won the Group Three Kingston Town Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill in September before failing on a wet track at Randwick in the Group One Metropolitan Handicap (2400m) won by Speed Gifted.

She kicked off her Melbourne campaign with an 11th to Viewed in the Caulfield Cup.

Earlier this year she put in a great performance on a heavy track to run second to Scenic Shot in the Brisbane Cup, fuelling Ryan's plans to run at Flemington.

Speed Gifted is not a certain Melbourne Cup runner after beating just one home in Saturday's Cox Plate while The Sportsman is not among the Cup nominations.

Despite Ready To Lift's failure in Melbourne, Ryan had plenty to smile about in Sydney on Saturday with a winning treble headed by Therock who is on target for next month's New Zealand Two Thousand Guineas in Christchurch.

Therock firmed to $9 on the NZ TAB following his win at Rosehill.
