Raheeb is set to back up in Saturday's Group One Toorak Handicap at Caulfield following his impressive win in the Herald Sun SuperStable Stakes at Flemington.

The handsome six-year-old chestnut entire, raced by Nathan Tinkler's Patinack Farm Racing Syndicate, was having his third start for trainer Mick Price who has a good reputation for rejuvenating stallions, his best success with Shinzig in the 2008 Group One C F Orr Stakes.

Sent out at $8.50, Raheeb gave Sydney premier jockey Hugh Bowman a winning double when he strode away for a 2-3/4 length win over stablemate Rightfully Yours ($6) with race leader Dr Doute's ($12) three-quarters of a length away third.

"I've had a good opinion of him for a fair while," Price said.

"He ran fifth in the Toorak last year and he wasn't going as well as he is now so I think you'll find he's an entry."

Raheeb was down in class in Saturday's 1400m Listed race after finishing 1-1/4 lengths fifth to Turffontein in the Group One Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) at his Caulfield at his previous start.

"He's a magnificent type and he's beautifully bred being out of a full sister to Fastnet Rock and I'd really like to win a Group One with him because he deserves a home at stud," Price said.

Bowman kicked off the Melbourne spring carnival in fine style with a double having earlier scored on Cats Whisker in the Group Two Blazer Stakes (1400m).

But if Raheeb does run in the Toorak he will need a new jockey with Bowman committed to Racing To Win in the 1600m feature.

Bowman has also picked up the ride on the Joe Pride-trained Vision And Power in the Group One Yalumba Stakes (2000m) following Jim Cassidy's hand surgery after a gardening mishap last week.

The talented Raheeb, who has had his share of problems over the years, started out in Sydney with Tim Martin and won the 2008 Cameron Handicap when trained by Anthony Cummings.

Three of his four career wins have been over 1400 metres with the other at 1100.
