Blake Shinn is expecting Raheeb to run a huge race in Saturday's Cox Plate with Sydney's premiership-winning rider delighted to get the call-up after Chris Symons failed in his appeal against the severity of an eight-meeting suspension.

Shinn's only Cox Plate (2040m) ride was Magic Cape who failed to beat a runner home last year.

The Anthony Cummings-trained Raheeb has raced over 2000m just once, when fourth in last year's Tulloch Stakes at Rosehill, but Shinn has no concerns about the Nathan Tinkler-owned entire running Saturday's trip.

"They wouldn't have him in the race if they didn't think he could run the distance," Cummings said.

"I'm rapt to be on him and he'll no doubt be able to get up on the speed from barrier 10."

Raheeb failed on the slow Randwick track in the Epsom Handicap (1600m) two starts back when sent out $4.80 favourite, but produced a solid performance last time out when fifth to Alamosa in the Group One Toorak Handicap (1600m) at Caulfield on October 11.

"That last-start run was very impressive and showed me that he should be thereabouts on Saturday," Shinn said.

Shinn warmed up for Saturday with an early winning double at Warwick Farm on Komachi and Mazuka.

Symons was outed for causing interference when shifting in approaching the home turn on Joyeuse in the Group Two Tristarc Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Corey Brown was on board his Cox Plate ride Gallant Tess on Tuesday with the mare enjoying an easy gallop at the Breakfast with the Best trackwork session at the Valley.

Brown picked up the ride on Sunday night after regular jockey Jeff Lloyd was suspended for his ride on Nom Du Jeu in the Caulfield Cup.

"She just had a bit of a look around, that's all," Brown said.

"I was told that she's not much of a worker and saves her best for race day and I wasn't expecting much.

"I'm expecting her to run a good race after drawing barrier four which is perfect for her."

TAB Sportsbet has Gallant Tess and Raheeb as the outsiders of the Cox Plate at $35 with Princess Coup and Samantha Miss sharing favouritism at $3.60.
