Prince De Beauchene has enhanced his Grand National claims with a dominant victory in the Bobbyjo Chase at Fairyhouse.

The Willie Mullins-trained nine-year-old jumped crisply for Paul Townend, before taking the lead two jumps out.

By contrast to most of his labouring rivals, the Graham Wylie-owned gelding (11-10 fav) looked in supreme control, easing six lengths clear of the staying-on Black Apalachi.

Roi Du Mee finished third.

"He showed a nice bit of improvement from Navan and I'd imagine he will go on to Aintree now for the National," Mullins said.

"He'll like the better ground judging by the size of his feet.

"He did everything nicely and I hope there will be more improvement to come from him."

Paddy Power slashed Prince De Beauchene down to 7-1 favourite (from 14-1) for the National, while he was cut to 12-1 (from 16s) with William Hill.
