John O'Shea is inclined to keep Music Review in Sydney this preparation in a quest to claim stakes success in the coming weeks.
The mare was nominated for the Group One Doomben Cup but O'Shea said the Brisbane carnival was likely to be bypassed at this stage.
Music Review will start in Saturday's $100,000 Lord Mayor's Cup (2000m) at Rosehill before likely progressing to the Listed McKell Cup (2400m) and Listed Winter Cup (2400m) at the same venue.
"I'm probably inclined to leave her in Sydney and see if she can get a black-type win," O'Shea said.
The six-year-old has turned in two strong performances so far this preparation including a close fourth in a thrilling four-way finish in the Group Two Emancipation Stakes (1600m) second-up at Randwick on April 24.
It was a performance that didn't surprise her trainer.
"She's been in good order all preparation," O'Shea said.
"Her last run was just a reflection of how we thought she was going. She turned in a really good effort second-up last autumn to beat Joku over a mile (1600m) at Randwick so that was a pattern I followed this time."
Music Review drew the inside barrier for Saturday's feature at Rosehill which attracted 11 acceptors on Thursday.
However, trainer Tim Martin confirmed Scouting Wide won't take his place at Rosehill.
He'll instead join stablemate Morecambe Bay in the Listed Wagga Gold Cup (2000m) on Friday.
O'Shea was disappointed the Lord Mayor's Cup no longer held Listed status but still elected to keep Music Review in Sydney at this stage of her preparation instead of a trip to Wagga for the Cup a day earlier.
"She'll appreciate the 2000 metres, she should get a good run from the one gate and she's made nice improvement into this run," O'Shea said.
Music Review finished second to Penrickson in the Lord Mayor's Cup last year when it was run over 1900m at Canterbury.
Young apprentice Timothy Bell will partner both Music Review and Informality for O'Shea at Rosehill.
Informality will line up in the De Bortoli Wines Handicap (1400m).
The gelding has a great record at Rosehill with two wins from three starts.
Informality pleased O'Shea with his second-up run at Randwick where he finished 3-3/4 lengths fifth in the Listed Hall Mark Stakes (1200m).
"He's made good improvement since then, he comes in at the weights well, and the 1400 metres should suit," he said.
