Premier rider Luke Nolen is looking to build on his lead on the Melbourne jockeys' table with a full book of mounts at Flemington.

Nolen has ridden 29 city winners for the season, three more than Craig Williams, who is overseas until the end of the month, and a whopping 15 more than third-placed Dwayne Dunn.

As the stable rider for Peter Moody, Nolen will partner unraced two-year-old Golden Archer who is $7 with TAB Sportsbet in Saturday's Western Health Sponsors Plate (1100m) and Tan Tat Jet ($13) in the Johnstaff Projects Handicap (1200m).

He also has two rides for Robert Smerdon on Anavalanche ($11) in the Aktrapid Nursing Agency Handicap (1730m) and Bon Marche ($11) in the Sunshine Private Medical Centre Handicap ((1630m).

Nolen's best chance of the day could be Mount Gambier galloper Orchestra Stalls ($6.50) in the Western Health Cup (2000m).

Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra have booked Nolen for Lizawi ($14) who will have her second start in the Spotless Handicap (1000m) after finishing second at Ballarat on December 1.

Regular Aussie ($14) in the National Patient Transport Handicap (1630m) and stayer Linton Street ($35), who resumes in the Zouki Handicap (1420m), complete Nolen's book of rides.

Nolen, who won his first jockeys' premiership last season with 67 winners, has until after Christmas to set up a break on the absent Williams.

On Sunday Williams rides Australia's Hong Kong Sprint hope Ortensia at Sha Tin as well as Japan's Jaguar Mail in the Hong Kong Vase and Glass Harmonium in the Hong Kong Cup.

After the International meeting Williams will return to Japan to complete the final month of a three-month riding contract.

Williams' manager Mark Guest said the four-time premier jockey, who last rode in Victoria on November 21, was due back in Melbourne on Boxing Day with a view to riding at Sandown on December 28.
