Luke Nolen didn't have long to soak up Black Caviar's unforgettable Diamond Jubilee Stakes win.
A little more than 24 hours after narrowly keeping the champion mare's unbeaten record intact in the Group 1 event, Nolen was on a flight back home.
Just a day after landing he will be back in action at Caulfield where he will be out to reclaim the lead in the Victorian Metropolitan Jockeys' Premiership.
Nolen has a full book of rides at what is the first of two meetings for the week at the Melbourne Racing Club's premier track.
The reigning Scobie Breasley medallist was one win in front when he boarded the plane for England, but wins by Craig Newitt at last week's two metro meetings saw Nolen's close rival edge back in front by one.
But through the support of Black Caviar's trainer Peter Moody, who already has the metro trainers' title in the bag, Nolen will fancy his chances of at least joining Newitt at the top of the leaderboard.
Nolen's first five rides at Caulfield are for Moody, while he also rides and the Moody-prepared Bold Trojan in the final race.
Interestingly, Nolen will partner Storm Burst in the BMW Handicap (2000m) that launches the program, at 12pm.
Storm Burst finished second to stablemate Aeronwy at Flemington on 16 June, when Nolen was aboard Aeronwy, but Nolen switches to Storm Burst with Moody utilising Jake Duffy's 2kg claim aboard Aeronwy.
Nolen then rides last-start Morphettville runner-up Galvez in the Blue Diamond Noms Close 3 July 2YO Handicap (1000m), the speedy Soul Mama in the Design To Print International Handicap (1000m) and resuming multiple city winner Limerock in the Quercia Capital Handicap (1000m).
Pilbara Sands, who was scratched from Echuca yesterday, will go around in the Guinot Skincare Handicap (1600m).
Nolen also has rides for two outside stables, the Terry and Karina O'Sullivan-trained Mildura Cup winner Magic Me in the Sportingbet Handicap (1440m) and Countcool for regular supporter Mick Kent in The Orient Expedition Cruise Handicap (2430m).
Newitt will not be surrendering his lead without a fight, however, and has rides in all but one event on the eight-race card, including several leading fancies. (www.racingvictoria.net.au)
