Group One-winning jockey Nikita Beriman was suspended for two months on a charge of misconduct after being involved in a fight with another female rider at an Echuca race meeting last month.

Beriman pleaded guilty before the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board to the charge which related to her pushing and then punching apprentice Stacey Rawiller three times in the female jockeys' room on August 24.

Rawiller had facial bruising and a fat lip after the altercation which took place after the running of the Moama Bowling 0-62 Handicap in which both she and Beriman both rode.

Rawiller, the younger sister of top jockeys Nash and Brad, was examined by the club doctor and ruled unfit to fulfil her remaining engagements on the day.

Beriman reached the pinnacle of her career when she won the 2007 Group One Emirates Stakes on longshot Tears I Cry which she had been engaged to ride in the Group Two Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes at Moonee Valley on Saturday.

She will be free to return to race riding on Wednesday, November 11.

Meanwhile apprentice Adam McCabe was fined $1,000 on an improper practice charge relating to him weighing out with a saddle without stirrup leathers or stirrup irons prior to the running of the first division of the Caledonian Hotel Maiden Plate at the same Echuca meeting.

McCabe, who pleaded guilty, must pay $500 of the fine by October 31 but the remaining $500 of the fine has been suspended for 12 months.

He will not have to pay the remaining $500 unless he re-offends.
