In-form mare Miss Maren will be on trial for a start in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Randwick on Anzac Day in Saturday's Easter Cup at Caulfield.

The four-year-old daughter of Stravinsky has been racing in career-best form, prompting trainer Mick Price to think of stepping her up to Group One level should she win the Group Three Easter Cup (2000m).

The mare has raced at the highest level on three occasions, finishing fifth to Zarita in the 2008 Australasian Oaks (2000m) at Morphettville, sixth to Heavenly Glow in the AJC Australian Oaks (2400m) at Randwick and sixth to Riva San in the Queensland Oaks (2400m) at Eagle Farm.

Although placed to Heavenly Glow in the Group Three Doomben Roses (2020m) in May last year, Miss Maren had only won a Kyneton Maiden and a Stony Creek Class One before her current preparation which has yielded a first-up second followed by three successive wins.

After a 3-3/4 length win over 1800m when second-up at Sandown, she overcame difficulties to land the Listed Centaurea Stakes (2005m) at Morphettville before completing the hat-trick with a trackwork-like gallop to beat Youthful High by 2-1/4 lengths over 2000m at Caulfield last Saturday week.

"I have got this fancy idea in the back of my head that if she wins the Easter Cup we might give her a chance in the Queen Elizabeth," Price said.

Price has always had a good opinion of Miss Maren but she struggled for form last year when a membrane grew over her epiglottis.

Her form this campaign has been stunning after having laser surgery to remove the membrane.

"She was a bit cranky and a bad-breathing horse and we couldn't work it out until we put her on a treadmill and scoped her," Price said.

"Now we are seeing her real ability."

Glen Boss will ride Miss Maren for only the second time in a race having piloted her to finish fifth to Dolphin Jo in the Group Two Winning Edge Presentations Stakes (2400m) at Caulfield last spring.

Miss Maren is at $5.50 with TAB Sportsbet behind Raffaello ($3.60 fav) and Light Vision ($4.40).

Raffaello, who has had three runs since joining the Mark Kavanagh stable, is chasing a hat-trick following wins over 1400m at Sandown and over 1700m at Caulfield, the latter when he defeated Light Vision by 2-1/4 lengths.

However the Robert Smerdon-trained Light Vision, who carried 60.5kg on that occasion, drops to 57kg and will meet Raffaello 5.5kg better at the weights.

Meanwhile, the Heath Conners-trained Chasm is $5 favourite for Saturday's Group Three Victoria Hcp (1400m) which attracted a full field of 16 plus three emergencies.

Second emergency Tindal is at $7.50 with honest galloper Orbit Express at $8.50.

Chasm is back from a brief stint in NSW where he chased home Solo Flyer when runner-up in the Group Three Newmarket Hcp (1400m) at Newcastle and again when third in the Group Two Ajax Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill.
