Queensland jockey Stathi Katsidis will relocate to Sydney for the next month to give himself the best chance of winning the $3.5 million Golden Slipper.
Katsidis will base himself at Rosehill until after the Golden Slipper on April 3 so he is able to ride Magic Millions winner Military Rose in all her lead-up work.
He hasn't been on the filly's back since her dominant 3-3/4 length win in the $2 million Magic Millions Classic (1200m) at the Gold Coast on January 10, but the two will reunited at trackwork at Rosehill on Tuesday morning.
"I can't wait to gallop Military Rose on Tuesday just to see where she is at," Katsidis said.
"She has put on a bit of weight, some of that might be a bit of fat but mostly it's muscle. I'm told she has blossomed and matured heaps and I really think she's a great chance of winning the Slipper."
Katsidis has been riding in Sydney in recent weeks to partner Queenslanders Shoot Out and Sweepstaking in their respective races, and the jockey also picked up the winning ride in the Group Three Liverpool City Cup on Dreamscape for Gai Waterhouse on Saturday.
He said it was important for him to base himself in Sydney with Military Rose, who will make her Sydney debut at Rosehill on March 20 in the Reisling Stakes.
"Not that her track riders aren't doing a good job, but the Slipper is a big race and I want to make sure everything is prim and proper," Katsidis said.
"I've got Shoot Out in the Randwick Guineas this week too, he'll be hard to beat. And I've also picked up the ride on John O'Shea's filly Kiss 'N Chase for Saturday."
Katsidis has ridden Shoot Out on four occasions but has yet to win on the John Wallace-trained three-year-old.
He was aboard last start when Shoot Out ran a slashing second to Monton in the Group Two Hobartville Stakes (1400m) but missed out on the winning ride in the Group Two Royal Sovereign Stakes (1200m) the previous start when he had to be replaced by Kerrin McEvoy on race morning due to a knee injury.
Riding in Sydney in recent weeks has also given Katsidis a good opportunity to scope out Military Rose's likely Golden Slipper opposition from the Silver Slipper Stakes and Kindergarten Stakes.
"I think the horse on Saturday, Solar Charged, was very impressive," Katsidis said.
"I haven't seen Beneteau in the flesh so I can't comment on him, but Solar Charged is definitely going to be hard to beat.
"Chance Bye is running well bit I think Military Rose might just have her measure."
Katsidis added that the performance of Magic Millions runner-up Ambers Waltz in the Silver Slipper, where she ran second to Chance Bye, confirmed the form of the Magic Millions and gave him plenty of confidence ahead of Military Rose's Slipper tilt.
