QUEENSLAND jockey Stathi Katsidis yesterday said that his dream of winning a Golden Slipper Stakes was looking more likely less than a week before the $3.5 million group 1 race at Rosehill, reports Pat Bartley in The Age.
His report adds: Katsidis, who rides the $3.40 favourite Military Rose, said the two-year-old had thrived since her win in the Reisling Slipper Stakes two weeks ago at Rosehill.
''On Saturday morning she felt sensational when working and I'm glad she goes into the Slipper having had the two weeks between runs,'' Katsidis said.
''She'll work again on the course proper at Rosehill on Tuesday. She'll be ready and is going to be terribly hard to beat, she is the best of them so far.''
Melbourne owner David Moodie yesterday confirmed that Saturday's Rosehill winner Willow Creek would be aimed at the Sires' Produce at Randwick on April 17.
There was speculation after Willow Creek scored in the Magic Night that he could be a late entry for the Slipper, but Moodie said filly Crystal Lily would be his only runner in the race. He will pay a $150,000 late entry fee for her.
The Sydney Turf Club is likely to reap $600,000 in late entry fees from the connections of Crystal Lily, Blackball, Decision Time and Masquerading.
Trainer Gerald Ryan will put blinkers on Hinchinbrook for the Golden Slipper.
