Swettenham Stud is keenly anticipating Saturday's The Galaxy at Randwick where stallion prospect Kaphero has the chance to add a Group One win to his already impressive record.
The five-year-old will stand at Swettenham which part-owns the Leon Corstens-trained flyer, with his service fee to be announced next week.
Kaphero is racing second-up in the 1100-metre feature after running fourth to Olonana in the Group Two Challenge Stakes (1000m) at Randwick on March 14.
Group One glory has so far eluded Kaphero who ran third to Typhoon Zed at the top level in the Manikato Stakes (1200m) in September last year.
That result ended a five-race winning streak capped off by a slashing win in the Group Three McEwen Stakes (1000m) at Moonee Valley in August.
Kaphero is a Moonee Valley specialist with six of his 10 wins there.
Hugh Bowman has secured the ride and is looking forward to reuniting with the speedster who was formerly trained by Lee Freedman.
"His form is excellent, it's a terrific ride and one I'm delighted to have, he's got a great chance," Bowman said.
"I rode him in 2007 in my one and only ride at Sandown and he finished second and he showed me enough that day to still be excited about him.
"The Corstens have done a great job with him and have made a real sprinter out of him."
Trainer John O'Shea said Galaxy hopeful Olonana had enjoyed a good build-up to the race.
However, the Randwick trainer is concerned with barrier two.
"To be honest I'm not sure if that is going to be a good draw for her, she prefers to be ridden quietly but I'll leave it up to Timmy (Clark)," O'Shea said.
"That last-start win was very satisfying, that result was six months in the planning and she deserves a go at The Galaxy.
"Her work has been strong since the run and I expect her to go well."
TAB Sportsbet has Kaphero at $21 for the Galaxy while Olonana is at $7.
The Joe Pride-trained Black Prince and Gamble Me from the Gai Waterhouse yard are equal favourites at $6.50.
