David Hayes is more than happy with his decision not to run Irish Lights in the Edward Manifold Stakes ahead of her Group One assignment in the Thousand Guineas on Wednesday week.

The Fastnet Rock filly has earned Thousand Guineas favouritism with her two wins this spring and will go into the Group One 1600m feature with a three-and-a-half week break between runs.

Saturday's Edward Manifold at Flemington was won by Adelaide filly Majestic Music who is now second favourite for the Thousand Guineas.

Irish Lights resumed with an impressive 2-3/4 length win over subsequent Group Three Champagne Stakes winner Avenue over 1100m at Flemington on September 5 then defeated Set For Fame and Mont Fleuri in the Group Three Thousand Guineas Prelude (1400m) at Caulfield on September 19.

Hayes said Irish Lights was spot-on and he was happy for her to go into the Thousand Guineas third up.

He took the filly to Moonee Valley for a gallop last Wednesday with race jockey Glen Boss aboard and after giving a workmate a five-length start she picked it up brilliantly.

"She can work as well as anything now she's back in the zone. She was a bit lazy earlier in her preparation but between her first and second runs she started to wake up," Hayes said.

"She's a pleasure to train really, she's all class. Obviously she's heading towards the fillies race (the Thousand Guineas), but I wouldn't hesitate to take on the colts at some stage.

"We'll wait and that will probably happen in the Australian Guineas (in the autumn) but I think she's very, very good."

Majestic Music earned her passage to Melbourne with victory in the Morphettville Guineas.

Trainer Leon Macdonald won the 2007 Thousand Guineas with Serious Speed and Majestic Music's form was a boost for him and new training partner Andrew Gluyas after Rebel Raider was ruled out for the spring.

Prior to her Thousand Guineas triumph, Serious Speed finished third in the Guineas at Morphettville and second in the Edward Manifold.

Irish Lights was at $3.20 with TAB Sportsbet on Sunday to win the Thousand Guineas with Majestic Music at $8.50 and Silent Surround and Suster Madly both at $11.
