Jockey Daniel Ganderton was suspended for a month at Warwick Farm on Friday for a "dishonest action" and also fined $500 for providing a false statement to stewards.

The suspension stemmed from Ganderton not fulfilling his engagement at Wyong on Thursday.

Racing NSW stewards issued Ganderton with two charges, one for providing a false statement in that he told steward Marc Van Gestel on Thursday that the reason he was unable to ride at Wyong was that he was waiting for the NRMA.

Stewards directed Ganderton to provide verification on Friday that the NRMA did attend.

"The dishonest action was that he turned up with a tax invoice today which was a year old and had no relevance, it didn't relate one bit to the explanation to the stewards yesterday," deputy chairman of stewards Greg Rudolph said.

Ganderton pleaded guilty to both charges but said he would certainly be appealing when handed the one-month ban.

"A one-month suspension is ridiculous," Ganderton told stewards.

"Especially coming into this time of year, carnival time."

At the inquiry Rudolph told Ganderton it was "a matter of some seriousness" but the jockey took offence when it was put to him that he provided a false document.

"It's not a false document, stop trying to go on with that. If you continue to say that I'll walk out," Ganderton said.

The jockey had stood himself down after the first race at Warwick Farm due to illness.

On the track, this season's champion apprentice Tommy Berry rode a winning double on board the John O'Shea-trained pair Private Label and Not A Snip A Doubt.

Corey Brown picked up a winning double and is seven behind Nash Rawiller with the season's final meeting at Rosehill on Saturday.

Peter Snowden and Chris Waller were winless with Snowden still on 97 wins - seven ahead of Waller and assured of his first trainers' title.

Berry's double took his haul to 49 city winners.

"I didn't know that until today so hopefully I can get one tomorrow to make 50," Berry said.

O'Shea said rising three-year-old Private Label was giving the indications he might be a handy staying type.

"We'll probably space his runs and maybe look at a race like the Gloaming Stakes," O'Shea said.

Meanwhile, Hugh Bowman was supposed to front stewards at Warwick Farm after missing rides at Canterbury on Wednesday because of weight problems.

Bowman was also unable to ride Yogi at 57kg at Warwick Farm so his meeting with stewards will now take place at Rosehill on Saturday.

The Waller-trained Ego, who Bowman was down to ride at 58kg, was scratched.
