The Gai Waterhouse-trained Extreme Mover has emerged as a serious contender for next month's Magic Millions, firming to second favouritism behind Ambers Waltz.

Extreme Mover's dominant victory at Rosehill on Saturday was one of several eye-catching performances from juveniles in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.

The $2 million Magic Millions Classic (1200m) at the Gold Coast on January 9 is the first major two-year-old race of the season.

Waterhouse also has Wyong Slipper winner Brightexpectations ($9.50) in the mix for the Gold Coast race.

Extreme Mover is by former top sprinter Falvelon and cost $70,000 at the premier sale.

Rock Of Gibraltar filly Red Belly Black is also at $9.50 following her impressive debut at Flemington.

One of the cheapest horses in David Hayes' stable, the filly immediately repaid the $25,000 she cost owners Scott and Rachel Perrin with victory in the Western Health Sponsors Plate (1100m).

Hayes said that while she was not the best juvenile in his yard, Red Belly Black showed promise in a jumpout and he treated her first start as a "$70,000 trial".

"She is eligible for the Magic Millions so we thought we'd better earn some prizemoney as the race is not far away," Hayes said.

"We put her in this race instead of trialling her again and she did the right thing and qualified.

"She was pretty impressive but is still pretty green."

Red Belly Black will go straight to the Magic Millions without another run.

Queenslanders Jantzen and Military Rose also scored stakes race wins at Eagle Farm to book their places in the field.

Gillian Heinrich trains Military Rose, a daughter of 1997 Magic Millions winner General Nediym, and she is confident the filly can measure up.

"I really like this filly," she said.

"She has plenty of early pace, but she relaxes well and is very versatile."

"I'll give her another run over 1200 metres in a fortnight and she'll be spot-on for the Millions."

Jantzen won the Phelan Ready Stakes to give Helen Page her chance at the prize.

"He'll take a lot of improvement out of this," Page said.

Ambers Waltz will have her final leadup at Randwick on Boxing Day.
