Trainer Peter Moody says the likelihood of a solid pace will play into the hands of his star mare Typhoon Tracy in Saturday's Futurity Stakes at Caulfield.

There are only five rivals to the odds-on favourite in the Group One 1600m feature which is the opening leg of the lucrative Asian Mile Challenge.

But three of them - Sniper's Bullet, Dao Dao and Joku - are on-pace runners which Moody says will suit Typhoon Tracy.

"She can sit off them. There is good even pace in the race and it doesn't worry her," Moody said.

"Looking at her form the harder the race the better she goes.

"When she gets it soft like her win (in the Orr Stakes) at Caulfield she probably tends to loaf a bit.

"But the more the pressure is placed on the better she goes so I hope they pour it on and make it a real solid race."

The winner of eight of her 11 starts, Typhoon Tracy is striving to become the 13th horse to complete the Orr Stakes-Futurity Stakes double in the same year.

The daughter of Red Ransom has firmed from $1.60 to $1.55 with TAB Sportsbet as she strives to become only the fourth mare to win the Futurity in the past 50 years.

She would join Wenona Girl (1963), Mannerism (1992) and Aqua D'Amore (2007).

Typhoon Tracy sat off race leader Danzylum in the CF Orr Stakes (1400m) before scoring easily from Heart of Dreams when resuming from a spell at Caulfield on February 6.

"She's trained on very nicely. We're very pleased with the way she's gone on," Moody said.

"I think she's improved significantly fitness-wise.

"I'm very happy with her but I've got more respect for the opposition than maybe the market suggests."

Typhoon Tracy, Dao Dao ($5.50) and Sniper's Bullet ($6.50) are nominated for next month's Dubai Duty Free which is part of the Dubai World Cup on the new Meydan track.

The Tony Vasil-trained Elvstroem won the 2005 Dubai Duty Free.

In-form galloper Joku, fourth pick in the betting at $11, is chasing his fourth straight win but trainer Gai Waterhouse said the Xaar five-year-old faced a steep class rise.

"He's very honest but this is a lot harder at Group One level," Waterhouse said.

"He's only been racing at Listed level."

After winning the Bernborough Hcp (1630m) at Doomben, the gelding won the John Dillon Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield and last start led throughout for a 3-1/2 length victory under 59kg over Scenic Scene in the Kilmore Cup (1600m), all Listed Races.

The winner of 10 of his 20 starts, Joku has finished out of a place just three times.

Brad Rawiller takes over the reins from his brother Nash on Saturday.

The Asian Mile Challenge boasts prizemoney and bonuses in excess of $US11 million.

After the Futurity, the Challenge continues with the $US5 million Dubai Duty Free on March 27, then heads to Hong Kong for the $US1.55 million Champions Mile on April 25 before culminating with the $US2.3 million Yasuda Kinen in Japan on June 6.

Bonuses of $US2 million for three race wins and $US1 million for two wins make the international legs attractive targets for the Futurity winner.
