Bonny mare Funtantes already has two stakes victories to her credit and at Eagle Farm on Saturday she will be on a mission to add another.

Funtantes will tackle the feature race on the card, the Listed Bright Shadow Handicap (1200m) and trainer Robert Heathcote is upbeat about her chances.

The mare resumed with a sixth to Border Rebel over 1000m last month and Heathcote saw plenty of merit in the run.

"I was delighted with her first-up run. She ran fifth and should have run second to Border Rebel," Heathcote said.

"She was held up severely at the 250 metre mark and when she needed room she couldn't get out.

"She's trained on nicely since."

Funtantes has topweight of 58kg on Saturday, 3.5kg more than her nearest weighted rivals.

She has proven she can carry big imposts winning the Listed Juanmo Stakes under 57.5kg last April and posting a victory over handy mare Alberton Park lumping 58kg at Doomben in September.

Heathcote isn't too concerned by her weight but would have liked a kinder draw than gate 11.

"She's topweight for a reason. She's the best horse in the race," Heathcote said.

"I would have liked a nice barrier given she is topweight but she'll just get back a bit further."

Funtantes will be one of four runners for Heathcote at Eagle Farm including lightly-raced five-year-old Solzhenitsyn.

The son of St Petersburg, cleverly named after the Russian author of the same name, showed promise to win three successive races during the winter.

He was spelled after disappointing at his only spring run.

"He won three in a row and I gave him a spell then he had one run back and got a bug which is why he ran poorly," Heathcote said.

"It's a good quality race on Saturday with horses like Cape Kidnappers and Rokatoko but I think this horse will measure up to stakes class."

Heathcote will also be represented at Eagle Farm by Marked in the Winning Edge Corporate Awards Hcp (2112m) and Bevico Girl in the Winning Edge Signature QTIS Hcp (1400m).
