Rob Heathcote has been swayed by the barrier draw with his decision to favour Funtantes as his stable's leading chance in the Listed Sky Racing Nudgee Quality at Doomben.

Heathcote is double-handed with the two top-weighted horses Funtantes (barrier three) and Acquired (barrier nine) facing off in Saturday's 1200-metre feature.

Heathcote's biggest concern with both mares is their weight with Funtantes carrying topweight of 58 kilograms, only a half-kilo more than Acquired.

"I couldn't split them until the barrier draw," Heathcote said.

"Now that Funtantes has drawn better I favour her over Acquired but only just."

Both mares will add to their broodmare value if they prove successful.

Heathcote sent Funtantes to Sydney for the Listed Razor Sharp Handicap (1200m) at Randwick in mid-December but the four-year-old ran below expectations when finishing sixth to Swift Alliance,

The daughter of Easy Rocking then returned to Queensland and finished seventh to Captain Sonador in the Listed Goldmarket Handicap (1300m) at the Gold Coast on January 3.

"I blame myself for her run in the Razor Sharp," Heathcote said.

"She went into the race a little soft after we had two consecutive race meetings washed out in Brisbane.

"I was too easy on her and she knocked up in the Razor Sharp."

Heathcote has also overlooked the mare's Goldmarket Handicap performance.

"She copped some bad interference at a crucial time which put her out of the race," he said.

"The weight is my biggest concern with her tomorrow but she's a very good mare and will be competitive."

Acquired struck wet tracks when Heathcote sent her to Melbourne for the spring but she's shown with her two recent runs that she could be closing in on her seventh career win.

The six-year-old has been freshened up since her last-start third to Beyonce's Star in the Listed Just Now Quality (1300m) at Eagle Farm on December 11.

"She got back and raced wide last run so it was a good effort," Heathcote said.

"She's an honest mare in the twilight of her career and I also expect her to run well."

Heathcote has not formulated any plans in Sydney for either sprinter and will target local sprints next month with both.

"Funtantes won't be going back to Sydney and I'll get them both ready for some more of these type of races here next month," Heathcote said.
