Battle-scarred filly Funtantes has been given a clean bill of health ahead of her assignment in the Group Two Roman Consul Stakes.

Funtantes produced a courageous performance to finish second to Stryker in her Sydney debut in the Listed Heritage Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill on September 19 and will head to Randwick on Saturday.

The Easy Rocking filly headed Stryker in the straight but a one kilogram weight difference and an early buffeting possibly cost her victory.

Funtantes was stripped behind during the run but she recovered quickly and hasn't missed any work.

However, trainer Rob Heathcote had Funtantes vetted after the race and called in a chiropractor as a precaution.

"She's had a good week and I'm delighted with her," Heathcote said.

"She was stripped in her off hind leg but thankfully there's been no side effects and no infection.

"I got a chiropractor go all over her last week and the report was very good."

Chris Munce, who rode Funtantes last start, has been retained for the 1200-metre Roman Consul Stakes.

Heathcote intends continuing Funtantes' spring campaign to Melbourne after Epsom Handicap day for the Group One Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on October 31.

Funtantes emerged as one of Queensland's best two-year-olds last season after claiming the Group Two Champagne Classic (1200m) at Doomben in May before finishing fourth to Shoot Out in the Group Two Sires' Produce Stakes (1400m) at Eagle Farm a fortnight later.

Meanwhile trainer Jason McLachlan is looking forward to the Group One Caulfield Guineas (1600m) on October 10 following Phelan Ready's eye-catching second to Danleigh in the Group One Manikato Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on Friday night.

The Golden Slipper and Magic Millions winner travelled midfield most of the way and had trouble handling the tight Moonee Valley turns before rattling home to go under by less than a length.

"He pulled up well and he's going to take a lot of improvement from the run," McLachlan said.

"He didn't handle the track too well and it was an enormous effort."

McLachlan was forced to run Phelan Ready in the Manikato Stakes after his controversial scratching at the barrier in the Caulfield Guineas Prelude (1400m) eight days ago.
