Toowoomba trainer Tony Gollan achieved a lifelong ambition at the Gold Coast on Saturday but his moment of Magic Millions glory was also tinged with sadness.

Gollan has always yearned to win a feature MM race and his topline sprinter Temple Of Boom achieved the goal with a last-stride win in the $200,000 Magic Millions Sprint (1000m).

But Gollan's elation was tempered as he remembered the many lives lost in the floods which have tragically ripped through Toowoomba and surrounding areas.

"It really hit home for me on the drive down here today," Gollan said choking back tears.

"I was in the truck by myself and it was eerie to see all the paddocks that used to be full of horses and now there's not an animal in sight.

"We are lucky to even be at a race meeting let alone winning a feature race and it really put things in perspective for me on the drive down."

Gollan is a dyed-in-the-wool Queenslander and said a Magic Millions feature win had been a childhood dream.

"I'm a born and bred Queensland boy and to win a race like this is really special - especially after the week we have all had," he said.

Patiently ridden by Corey Brown, Temple Of Boom ($2.10 fav) was run off his feet in the early stages but hit the line hard to beat Huckleberry Dane ($26) by a short head.

Newcastle sprinter Atomic Force ($4.40) turned in a slashing effort to finish a neck back third after he was being hard ridden on the corner.

Gollan said Temple Of Boom would be spelled immediately and aimed towards The Galaxy (1100m) at Randwick in April and on to a possible tilt at the Stradbroke Handicap on June 11.

"He has done a massive job this campaign and he has earned a spell," Gollan said.

"The Galaxy is his goal and he can have a few weeks in the spelling paddock and come back to get ready for it."
