Court Command confirmed interstate plans and had trainer Liam Birchley likening him to former champion Vo Rogue following his Eagle Farm demolition job on Wednesday.

Court Command led all the way in his first start since his defeat in the Group One Stradbroke Handicap in June to score by 3-1/4 lengths from Sommersea Drive in the Family Nightclub Handicap (1300m).

The six-year-old stallion came out of retirement for a winter carnival campaign after serving a season at part-owner Gary Turkington's Wattle Brae Stud near Toowoomba and lived up to expectations when he won the Group Three BTC Sprint (1350m) at Doomben in May.

However, wet tracks ruined Court Command's chances in the Doomben 10,000 and Stradbroke Handicap which prompted Turkington and his fellow owners to earmark the spring races in Sydney and Melbourne before returning him to stud duties next year.

"I felt a little cheated with all the wet weather we had during the winter so we're sending him south for the spring," Turkington said.

"We've got to win a Group One race before he goes back to stud."

Birchley described Court Command as a freak after he made light of his topweight of 60.5 kilograms and won so easily,

"He's a freak of a horse to win like that and do it without having a barrier trial," Birchley said.

"To win so easily with that weight is very good and he's nearly another Vo Rogue.

"He (Vo Rogue) is the best horse I've ever seen and the most naturally talented and he (Court Command) is that style of horse.

"He's got such a high cruising speed. If he's anywhere near him (Vo Rogue) he'll win a lot of races."

Birchley will be guided by the weather interstate before determining Court Command's next start but favours heading to Sydney for The Group Two Warwick Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on Saturday week.

The alternative is to go straight to Melbourne for the Group Two Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield a week later.

Court Command is nominated for the Group One Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley in October but Birchley is yet to confirm the son of Commands will start in Australasia's weight-for-age championship.

"I'd like to think he's up to it but we'll have to sit back and wait and see how he goes in the south," he said.

Winning jockey Damian Browne said Court Command felt the pinch of his big weight over the final stages.

"That's to be expected in his first run back but it was a very good win," Browne said.

As a three-year-old Court Command won three Group races in Sydney including the Group Two Stan Fox Stakes (1400m) at Randwick which earned him favouritism for the Caulfield Guineas.

The only time Court Command has started over 1600 metres was when he finished third to Wonderful World in the Group One Caulfield Guineas in 2006.
