Hugh Bowman has continued his relentless pursuit of the Sydney jockeys' premiership with three winners at Rosehill including the day's feature, the Winter Stakes on Strat's Flyer.

A few weeks ago Corey Brown was challenging Bowman who has since forged ahead to be within sight of his stated goal of 100 metropolitan winners for the season.

Bowman finished the day on 96 with Brown on 82 and it was the win of Strat's Flyer in the 1500m Listed feature that gave the leading rider the most satisfaction.

The Allan Denham-trained gelding had no luck when Bowman rode him in the Civic Stakes in which he finished ninth, beaten less than two lengths by the winner Hadaaf.

"Thoughts of last time went through my mind," Bowman said.

"There were similar circumstances and I thought about coming out around horses.

"But I would have had to come back a length and go round horses so I thought `don't be stupid' and stayed where I was and the run came.

"He should have won last time and I'm just pleased to get another crack at him, it doesn't always happen."

Strat's Flyer was in a handy position early with Hadaaf in his customary role up front with Bay Window tracking the topweight.

After being held up for the run, Strat's Flyer got clear and came hard and fast to career away to a 2-1/4-length victory over Brown's mount Bay Window with Mr Unforgettable another 1-1/2 lengths third after getting held up.

Punters kept faith with Strat's Flyer who was sent out the $4 favourite ahead of Mr Unforgettable at $4.80.

Mr Unforgettable's rider Daniel Ganderton, who partnered Strat's Flyer to win last month's Takeover Target Stakes at Gosford, was ruing his fate.

"A bad ride cost him the race," he said.

Hadaaf weakened in the final stages to finish eighth, almost six lengths from the winner.

"The heavy track didn't help him but it was disappointing," jockey Tye Angland said.

Bowman's other wins on the day came aboard the Kris Lees-trained Beyonce's Star and Voice Coach from the Chris Waller stable.

The Harris Farm Handicap (2000m) was the first Australian win for Voice Coach who is one of several former English horses Waller has in his stable.

A winner over 2018 metres at Sandown in England, Voice Coach broke through at his fourth Sydney start for Waller.

"The European horses take a while to acclimatise but we have had great success with them," Waller said.

The win by Voice Coach brought up a winning double for Waller after Vintedge was successful and took the trainer to 61-1/2 wins for the season with just Gai Waterhouse and Peter Snowden ahead of him.

Peter Robl also rode a treble including two-year-old Schipper for his boss Nathan Tinkler's Patinack Farm operation.

Robl's other two winners came aboard The Take for Paul Perry and the Jan Bowen-trained Centre Arena.
