It says: Bowman is closing in on Nash Rawiller at the top of the Sydney premiership, but is looking to Brisbane and the rich winter carnival with a few high-quality mounts, including last weekend's Hollindale Cup winner Metal Bender and Ortensia.
"At the moment I've been booked for two rides on Ortensia [the BTC Cup and the Stradbroke Handicap], and we'll just take it one race at a time," he said on Sport 927 yesterday. ''I rode her on Tuesday morning, that's the only time I've been on her back. She felt terrific under me and I'm looking forward to letting her go on Saturday.''
Ortensia is the $3.20 favourite in early markets for the group 1 sprint.
