Niggling back problems have contributed to the patchy recent form of Belle Soleil but a wet Warwick Farm track could be just the tonic.

The daughter of super sire Redoute's Choice will resume in the Shore Hcp (1000m) at her home track on Tuesday having not raced since beating just one runner home in the Listed Strada Stakes won by Bhutane Dane in March.

Belle Soleil has jarred up on hard tracks in the past and trainer Gary Portelli is hopeful she will appreciate the sting out of the ground when she tackles a heavy track for the first time.

"She trialled on the heavy at Warwick Farm and had no problems with it so fingers crossed," Portelli said.

"She's had her share of back problems and it only takes her to jump a bit awkwardly and the problem can flare up.

"If she doesn't stretch out tomorrow she could even go to the breeding barn."

Belle Soleil showed enough promise as a two-year-old for Portelli to start her in the Group Two Reisling Stakes and she wasn't disgraced finishing just over four lengths from winner Hips Don't Lie.

Her last win was on a slow track in the Magic Millions 3YO Stakes at Wyong in December and she will have the services of leading jockey Hugh Bowman on Tuesday.

Portelli and Bowman will also team up in the opening race with two-year-old Alpha Tango Sierra who will return to his own age group after finishing a short neck second to Linbob when he took on the older horses at Goulburn last start.

"We couldn't find a two-year-old race for him (last start) but we found the wet track and he's by Bianconi and they love the wet," Portelli said.

"It looks a nice race for him tomorrow. It's for two-year-olds on his home track and a wet track.

"It looks a pretty strong race though and that horse of David Payne's (Anchor Bolt) will be hard to beat."

Portelli and in-form apprentice Nathan Berry - a combination that met with success when Yoburg won at Randwick on Saturday - will reunite with Cuerdale in the Stroud Park Hcp (1000m) but Portelli says the gelding is not at his best fresh.

"His first-up record is horrendous," he said.

"He's a horse who takes a bit of racing."

Cuerdale has just one placing from seven first-up runs but he does handle heavy ground and finished second in a recent Warwick Farm barrier trial.
