Melbourne Cup winner Americain has arrived safely in Hong Kong ahead of his tilt at the International Vase on December 12.

The plane carrying the five-year-old touched down on Monday night and Americain was given a light workout on Tuesday morning in the quarantine area's trotting ring.

The French-trained Australian-owned horse will once again be ridden be Gerald Mosse in the big race.

There have been some concerns with Singapore's star sprinter Rocket Man who, although working well, has lost weight since he arrived at the weekend.

After losing six kilos from his departing weight of 482kg, the five-year-old is reported to have shed another 14kg at his latest weigh-in.

"I can't understand why he's lost so much weight as he's eating and drinking well," trainer Patrick Shaw told the Singapore Turf Club.

"He's now on 462 kg.

"Other than that, he has settled in very well."

Rocket Man is scheduled to run in Sunday's Group Two Jockey Club Sprint as a lead-up to the International Sprint.
