Dual Group 1 winner Dan Excel arrived in Sydney on Monday in preparation for October's $3 million Sportingbet Cox Plate, reports Racing Network.

The John Moore-trained horse will spend a fortnight at the Eastern Creek quarantine facility before entering the Rosehill stables of Moore’s brother Gary.

Dan Excel, a winner of the Champions Mile at Sha Tin and the Singapore International Cup at Kranji, is expected to head to Melbourne in late August to open his Cox Plate preparation.

It’s expected that Dan Excel will run in the Group 2 Dato' Tan Chin Nam Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley on September 6.

Dan Excel, a winner of six of his 36 starts, is expected to have one more start before the Cox Plate — the JRA Cup, Turnbull Stakes and Caulfield Stakes are possibilities.

At his most recent start Dan Excel, afforded a lovely ride by Tommy Berry, made a one-act affair of the Group 1Singapore International Cup.

The rising seven-year-old is one of 10 international horses invited by the Moonee Valley Racing Club to run in the Cox Plate.
