Jockey Glen Boss believes there is a Group win in talented mare Aloha who easily accounted for her rivals at Moonee Valley on Saturday.

The Encosta De Lago four-year-old, bred and raced by Magic Millions co-owner Gerry Harvey, made it three wins from five starts this preparation in the NYE @ MVRC Hcp (1600m).

Boss had the Mick Price-trained Aloha travelling easily off leader Beijing Bolt and when she took over coming to the home turn she quickly staved off a challenge from Ishant ($9) to score by 2-1/4 lengths with Fast Future ($13) running on to be a half-length back third.

"I rode her earlier in her career and I said to Mick and Gerry she was up to Group Two, Group Three level or at worst a stakes horse," Boss, fresh from his Singapore Gold Cup victory aboard Risky Business for trainer Steven Burridge last Sunday, said.

"Her form has been okay on tracks she's been unsuited on but today you've seen her true ability on top of the ground.

"She relaxed well and she can reel off a pretty sensational last couple of furlongs.

"That's the ability she's always possessed and there is definitely a Group win there but it hasn't come to the fore yet.

"I just hope that for Mick and Gerry she can reach her potential because she's a really good mare."

Aloha has now won four races, all in Melbourne, from 13 starts and among her six placings are a third to My Emotion in the Group Two Fillies Classic (1600m) at Moonee Valley and Listed second placings at Flemington and Caulfield.

She also ran fourth to Small Minds in the Group One Australasian Oaks (2000m) at Morphettville in May.

Boss went on to ride a treble, scoring on the Jarrod McLean-trained Waltzes in the TAB iPhone App Hcp (1000m) and Impressive Eagle in the Leilani Classic for trainer Danny O'Brien.

Boss and Ben Melham, who also rode a treble, dominated the meeting.

Melham won aboard the Lee Freedman-trained Typeface and the Bill and Symon Wilde-trained Sulmita before piloting the well-backed mare Tio Rossa to victory in the Valley Events Hcp (2040m).

Co-trainers Colin and Cindy Alderson took the blinkers off Tio Rossa after a couple of unlucky unplaced efforts earlier in the month and she landed her fifth win from 17 starts and her first since taking out the Listed Strutt Stakes (2100m) at Hobart in February.

Backed from $6 to start at $4.40, the Testa Rossa four-year-old enjoyed the fast pace set by the tearaway leader Kapu Star before just holding out De Arias ($7) by a short head with Sweet Talking Guy ($7) a half-neck away third.

"She made pretty hard work of it actually," Melham said.

"She was always going to win but never by very far.

"She's only a little horse and she tries hard."
