Trainer Mick Price recorded his third metropolitan victory in 24 hours when three-year-old filly Aloha made an impressive debut at Sandown on Sunday.

Camped on the speed throughout the Better Draw Handicap (1200m), Aloha appeared to relish the wet ground as she sprinted quickly and opened up an unassailable lead passing the 200 metres.

In the end Aloha ($2.70 fav) had 1-1/4 lengths to spare over Husskila ($3.50) with Jolie Brise ($16) another 1-3/4 lengths third.

Such is Price's opinion of the filly, Price will now aim her at the Group One Thousand Guineas (1600m) in October.

"I really like her," Price said.

"I was actually going to run her in the Quezette Stakes yesterday but I didn't.

"I decided to not run at Moonee Valley next Saturday and came here just to give her a city win."

Winning rider Glen Boss also believes Aloha has plenty of scope for the future.

"She's a really nice filly and she went about her work like a decent horse," Boss said.

"She's got plenty of talent and I'm keen to stick with her."

Aloha's victory came a day after Price notched a double at Caulfield with Corsaire and Miss Maren.

Corsaire is also being aimed at the Thousand Guineas (1600m) on October 14.

By Encosta De Lago, Aloha is out of a Danehill mare, Tennessee Midnight who won the 1999 Listed VRC Victoria Stakes (1000m) on debut before finishing fourth in the Group Three Blue Diamond Fillies Prelude (1100m) and then sixth in the 2000 Group One Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m).

Tennessee Midnight has produced five foals to race with three of those going on to record victories.

One of her progeny, Midnight Rock, has since produced the Mick Kent trained My Emotion, who won the Group Three VRC Thoroughbred Breeders' Stakes (1200m) at Flemington earlier this year.
