The Sydney autumn carnival beckons for Lord Stakes winner Aloha.

Trainer Mick Price said the four-year-old "miler" would be entered for all the suitable major mares' races next campaign including the Group One Coolmore Classic (1500m) at Rosehill in April after Sunday's win at Caulfield.

The victory convinced jockey Craig Newitt Aloha is Group-class mare.

"If she goes to Sydney she would be more than competitive," Newitt said.

Aloha was chasing her third win in a row in the Listed Lord Stakes (1700m) and punters latched onto her, backing her from $1.40 to $1.35.

Their money was never in danger as the daughter of Encosta De Lago lobbed in second place behind Rabbuka and gave her seven rivals a galloping lesson in the straight, surging away to win by three lengths.

Last-start Flemington winner Wind Shear ran on for second place, a long neck ahead of Lakedro.

Owned by Gerry Harvey, Aloha has won six of her 15 starts and Price and Newitt have both noted the improvement she has made this campaign.

Aloha earned a crack at the Lord Stakes after winning over 1600m at Moonee Valley on November 20 and at Flemington by nearly four lengths over 1730m on December 11.

"I am just rapped with the improvement she has made from an autumn three-year-old filly to a four-year-old mare," Price said.

Newitt said it noticeable when riding Aloha how much more seasoned she had become.

"Early days she was little bit on and off the bridle but now she bounces, puts herself there and travels really well," he said.

Price said a late summer break for the mare would mean she would miss the Melbourne autumn races but Sydney options were plentiful.

"It makes you wonder what race to set her for in the autumn but she has got her rating up now and you can ping into those good races in Sydney now," the trainer said.

"As long as the tracks are not too soft she has really good acceleration."
