Zeebox, the leading social second-screen app, today announced that 13 new broadcast networks have signed on as strategic partners, joining Network Ten and Foxtel in backing the universal, cross-channel TV viewing companion app for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Android, and the Web. TVN, the racing industry owned broadcaster is one of those new partners, reports Racing Network.

It says: This move confirms zeebox’s position as the one industry-wide platform for the second screen, with benefits for consumers and industry alike. “zeebox was built as an open platform that programmers and operators can easily use to enhance their brands on the second-screen, engage with fans and build new ways to bring the TV and Internet advertising industries together,” said Craig Blair, zeebox Australia Executive Chairman,

“The most engaging, compelling consumer experience on the second screen will be driven by the depth of content and the degree of integration with established TV brands – for this reason we’re delighted to be working with these new partners and their world class entertainment brands.”

By partnering with zeebox, each new partner will reach new, engaged audiences via zeebox’s personal recommendation engine. The partners will be able to build active and passionate TV room communities around their shows, engage with their viewers directly and distribute exclusive content.

The new partners will also be able to embed zeebox components on their own websites and apps providing a rich zeebox experience wherever their viewers choose to engage with TV shows. As with every show on zeebox, users will also be able to receive reminders to watch favourite shows, change channel and record shows.

Viewers will be also be able to follow our partners’ TV shows & talent to receive up to date news, gossip and events around their favourite TV content.
