Only a day after the Cup and already there's speculation that So You Think has either run his last race or he'll be sold to new owners...The Age says the 4YO star will 'race on but where and under whose guidance is still to be determined. It is understood connections have a sizeable offer - in the order of $25 million - for the horse to race overseas and return to Australia as a shuttle stallion when his racing days are finished.'

Bart Cummings seemed a little critical of Steven Arnold's ride on So You Think in the Melbourne Cup. Arnold got the horse to the centre of the track and took the lead 200m out but ended up a sitting duck for the winner Americain. Bart says: 'He looked a chance, yeah...'But he [Arnold] went about half a furlong [100 metres] too soon. I told him to go at the clock tower but I don't know which clock he was looking at.'

Bart's probably being a bit harsh on Steven Arnold. Truth is that So You Think was not really 100% trained for 3200m, he pulled all the way, and if he'd been good enough he'd have won, whether going to the front at the 300m or the 200m or whatever clock you want to name. The winner nailed him good and proper!

Luca Cumani (7th with Manighar) hasn't given up on his Melbourne Cup dream. It was his fifth attempt to win the Cup, having finished second in previous years with Purple Moon and Bauer, and it won't be his last. The Melbourne Cup is now an obsession with him. He says: 'You always look forward, never back, and we will be back next year if we have a horse that is good enough.' The Godolphin stable will also be back. Saeed Bin Suroor, trainer for global racing powerhouse Godolphin, had Campanologist and Holberg in the Cup and both were not good enough. SBS shook his head over the weather. He says: 'I really thought these two were the right horses and I still do but the ground was too soft for them.'
