Barossa Valley trainer Tony McEvoy will wait until later this week before deciding if former French galloper Big Memory will run at Randwick on Saturday.

The three-year-old colt by Duke Of Marmalade made his Australian debut when wide throughout and a creditable 4.5 length eighth of 13 behind Red Excitement at Rosehill Gardens on June 8.

“He ran very well first-up without any luck at all, McEvoy told Racing Network today.

“I’ll give him some more work this week before we decide whether to run him this week or wait until the following week when there is a race over 1900 metres,” he said.

Big Memory is entered in the $85,000 0 – 80 Benchmark Handicap over 1400 metres on Saturday, but McEvoy will wait until later in the week before making a decision.

McEvoy has seven horses entered for Morphettville on Saturday, as well as Assertive Eagle and Endless Shadow in the Eugene Gorman Handicap.

“I’ll work out later in the week which one runs but they both won’t – only one of them will go around,” McEvoy added.
