Progressive French stayer Terrubi is on his way to Melbourne for the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups.
Terrubi, a last start winner of a Group 2 race at Longchamp in Paris over 2800 metres, has been purchased by Jamie Lovett’s Australian Bloodstock.
Lovett told racingvictoria.net.au Terrubi had been purchased with this year’s feature Cups in mind, and the horse would be going to David Payne at Rosehill Gardens.
“He certainly ticks all our boxes so we’re very happy to have him,” Lovett said. “We purchased him prior to the Group 2 at Longchamp Sunday week ago and obviously we were quite pleased by that result.
"He meets all the qualifying conditions now and, without speaking to Greg Carpenter yet to see where he fits, I would suggest he would get into a Caulfield Cup,” Lovett said.
“Ideally he’s a nice horse for the spring but he could be an even better horse in the autumn and the following spring because he’s only lightly raced.”
Terrubi will run in the Group 2 Prix Kergorlay (3000m) at Deauville on August 24 before going into quarantine at Newmarket in the UK.
