TIME TO ABANDON SHIP.
I'm loath to abandon a horse I've identified as a coming winner. But I've found over the years, that even though I'll miss a few winners, I avoid an awful lot of losers by employing a strict rule: three strikes and you're on a yellow card; four and you're gone.
Ironstein is in that category right now. He'll have support on Saturday and I want you to study his form carefully. Why did I nominate him, several starts back, as a sure winner? Go back and look at his past form. It was exactly what was required for a couple of wins in February. And he came back in form (I thought) and looking a million dollars.
But he doesn't put in.
So, good luck to him and his connections, but he now runs without my money.
Perhaps that's to his advantage. When I'm on a bad run I can stop a train. Or a tsunami, for that matter.
Just use this as a suggestion. If you're relatively new to the game, remember that there's always another race.
And hopefully, Ironstein won't be in it.
