AS THE sun finally emerged on the Gold Coast yesterday, Queanbeyan trainer Neville Layt had an extra reason to smile when his unbeaten filly Karuta Queen drew barrier 10 for the $2 million Magic Millions Classic, reports The Age.

It says: Layt believes Karuta Queen is well placed in Saturday's race.

''Everything is right now,'' Layt said. ''She's right, the barrier's right and thank God the weather is right. When you look at it she will come into seven once the emergencies come out and that's where I wanted to be. I couldn't be happier and can't wait for Saturday.''

TAB Sportsbet's Glenn Munsie declared Karuta Queen the best value runner in Magic Millions history.

''If this horse was running in Sydney it would be $2.25 not $3.20,'' Munsie said.

The favoured runners generally drew well with the exception of the Gillian Heinrich-trained Military Grace (gate 18).

''It's not that bad, by the time they run the race it might be better to be out there,'' owner Hoss Heinrich said. The Heinrich stable also has Internal Revenue in the race from gate two.

Gerald Ryan was delighted with $6.50 chance Schiffer coming up with barrier 13.
