It was great to see a true battler like Neville Layt win the MM Classic. Too often, these big races go to people who are already mega-rich and who have won major races many times. Not so for Neville Layt. He was bold enough to bring Karuta Queen into the race off a break of 41 days, even though the previous longest gap between starts for a Magic Millions winner was 28 days! Neville says: 'Mate, she's a freak and I've known that from day one at the track...I never had a worry...I wanted her to be in front and once she did roll along I was confident she had the gears to put them away in the home straight.'

Queen of Rosehill...Cool, front-running ride from Kathy O'Hara to sneak away with the Underwood Cup on 7/2 chance Voice Commander. She says: 'I had no clear instructions and he is such a big striding horse that I thought I would let him bowl along...I got away with some pretty easy sectionals; I think I wasn't taken on because they thought he was suspect at the trip.' Well done, Kathy...Wonder whether Blake gave her a congratulatory call on the mobile?
