THE Leica family will be shooting for what could be a world first when three siblings from the same Corowa stable line up in separate races at Caulfield on Saturday, reports The Age.

It says: Rick Freyer, assistant trainer to his father Richard, confirmed yesterday that seven-year-old gelding Leica Falcon would be joined by the Falcon's sister, the five-year-old Leica Rose, and younger brother, the three-year-old Leica Larrikin, on Saturday.

All three, who are by Nothin' Leica Dane out of the Scrupules mare Lady Peregrine, were bred by Alan and Margaret Eaton. Three identically bred horses have never won on the same card on a Melbourne racetrack -- and it is doubtful it would have happened anywhere.

The trio was entered for the 1800-metre Phantom Handicap but Leica Rose will run in that race, with Leica Falcon likely to start his new campaign in the 1400-metre Hawksburn Handicap and Leica Larrikin racing in the 2000-metre Limerick Handicap.

In 2005, Leica Falcon burst on to the Melbourne racing scene and was installed the early cups favourite in 2006, but he bowed a tendon. In 2007 he was stranded on the NSW border and could not race due to equine influenza.

He made his comeback to racing last spring but did not find his best form.
