BART Cummings is pushing for a fourth Melbourne Cup runner tomorrow week to further strengthen his bid for his first clean sweep of the spring carnival majors, reports The Age.

It says: Cummings, who won his seventh Caulfield Cup with Viewed and fourth Cox Plate with So You Think in the space of seven days, said yesterday he would try to add to his already strong Melbourne Cup hand on Saturday at Flemington in the final ballot-free race for the Cup.

The 81-year-old trainer will try to qualify lowly ranked Dandaad and Think Money for a Melbourne Cup run through Saturday's group 3 Lexus Quality [formerly Saab Quality].

''It's the last roll of the dice for both of them but I think it's worth a shot,'' he said. ''The bigger track at Flemington will suit Think Money. I thought she was pretty dour there yesterday [when third in the Moonee Valley Cup] so the two miles will be right up her alley if we can get her there.

''The only way we can get him [Dandaad] there is through that race on Saturday, so he'll run as well.''

Despite his past amazing spring carnival successes, Cummings has never trained the winner of both major cups and the Cox Plate in the same year (although he does now hold each of the main events after Viewed won the Melbourne Cup last year).
