Jameka heads six horses in Saturday’s $120,000 Listed Talindert Stakes (1100m) at Flemington that hold a nomination for the following week’s Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield, reports racing.com.

With the Danny O’Brien-trained Ragazzo Del Corsa and Murray Johnson’s Take Pridethe two of the six with enough prize money to guarantee of a start in the Diamond, the others may need a win on Saturday to guarantee their spot in the $1 million Group 1.

fast-finishing runner-up over 900m at Bendigo in December, Jameka again hit the line hard to finish third in the $250,000 Inglis Premier (1000m) at Sportingbet Park Sandown earlier this month.

Trainer Ciaron Maher said the Blue Diamond remained a possibility for the daughter of Myboycharlie but said he was also considering the Group 2 VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) in March.

“If she won we’d consider it but she looks like a horse that will appreciate more ground so the Sires’ is probably an option as well,” Maher said.

“It will just depend on how she races on Saturday and how she comes through the run.

“She’s a big strong filly and after her last run she didn’t tighten up and she didn’t miss any feed so she’s quite strong that way and looks like the type of filly that would be able to handle backing up.

“We’ll learn a bit more about her on Saturday, the 1100 should suit her and the straight should suit her and each time she’s gone to the races she’s learned a bit more.”

Drawn in barrier six of the 12-horse field, Jameka will again be partnered by jockey Craig Williams.

Jameka aside, the other juveniles that may need to win to guarantee a Blue Diamond spot include Elwick Stakes (1100m) runner-up Band On the Run, the Jason Warren-trained Parallel Lines and Lindsay Park debutant Stay With Me, who is a daughter of Golden Slipper winner Miss Finland.

Jameka is one of a strong team of four runners at Flemington on Saturday for Maher, who will also be represented by Crown Oaks (2500m) winner Set Square in the$150,000 Group 3 The Vanity (1400m), Chloe In Paris in the $80,000 Indian Summer Handicap (1000m) and Akavoroun in the $80,000 tab.com.au Trophy (1200m).
