Real Saga has been elevated to favouritism for the Blue Diamond Stakes by bookmaker Col Tidy following his second win at Randwick but More Joyous still heads the market for the Golden Slipper.

Tidy's betchoice.com had the colt at $4.50 for the Blue Diamond immediately after his tough victory in Saturday's Hula Chief Handicap (1000m), displacing Melbourne filly Rostova who was at $5.50.

Michael Hawkes, who trains Real Saga in partnership with his brother Wayne and father John, confirmed a Blue Diamond start after Real Saga's win.

"He will go to Melbourne now," Hawkes said.

"He proved he is the real deal."

Tidy also believes he is the real deal and until Rostova runs in the Blue Diamond Preview on Monday, he is keeping him safe.

"He is the Blue Diamond favourite until Monday at least because the Melbourne boom horse hasn't yet been around a turn," Tidy said.

"Her win was down the straight at Flemington.

"Real Saga was very impressive but the Golden Slipper market won't change until the Silver Slipper and More Joyous is still favourite."

The Gai Waterhouse-trained More Joyous rocketed into $5 Slipper favouritism with her debut win at Rosehill on January 17 while Real Saga remained second elect after his win, tightening from $9 to $7.50.

His win was full of merit after he was pocketed on the rail and had to work to the outside.

Glyn Schofield was reprimanded for his efforts in getting him clear but it was worth it with Real Saga ($1.30 fav) surging to a 1-1/4 length win over Viking Legend ($11).

Real Saga won the Breeders Plate on debut in October and was favourite in Tidy's first Slipper markets.

The $1 million Blue Diamond (1200m) is at Caulfield on February 21 with the $3.5 million Golden Slipper at Rosehill on April 4.
