Well bred filly Arctic Flight has responded to wearing blinkers for the first time to record her first city win at Caulfield.

The Mick Price-trained three-year-old daughter of Flying Spur and Scandinavia is a half sister to Helsinge, the dam of unbeaten champion Black Caviar.

She improved her future value when she led all the way to win Monday's Sandown Park (UK) Handicap (1200m).

She has now won two of her five runs after scoring on debut at Geelong in September last year.

She failed to measure up to stakes class two starts ago in the Group Two Typhoon Tracy (1200m) at Moonee Valley and blinkers were used after she raced flat over 1400 metres and was again unplaced at Sandown on March 21.

Price's assistant trainer Mick Nolan said the stable remained hopeful Arctic Flight would be up to better races.

"I didn't think she could improve so much with the blinkers but she has jumped out of the ground," Nolan said.

"She was home along way out."

Ridden by Craig Newitt, Arctic Flight scored by 3-1/4 lengths from Eastward and Moudita, who was another 1-3/4 lengths away third.
