Chris Waller's plans for Rangirangdoo hold the key to the Doncaster Mile weights after Racing NSW confirmed they will be raised if last year's winner doesn't accept for the $2 million race.

If Rangirangdoo is saved for the final day of the Sydney autumn carnival, the favourite More Joyous will carry topweight of 57kg in her bid to win a sixth Group One and give trainer Gai Waterhouse a seventh Doncaster victory.

There was confusion on Monday over whether weights would be lifted under the policy applying to the spread of handicaps if the topweights don't accept.

However Racing NSW determined that in the case of races where there was an early declaration of handicaps, weights would be raised.

The Doncaster, Sydney Cup, Epsom and Metropolitan Handicaps are such races and, as a result, weights will be raised 0.5kg.

Waller will make the decision as late as possible regarding Rangirangdoo who pulled up lame after winning the George Ryder Stakes.

"We will most likely wait for the All-Aged Stakes but a final decision will be made in the morning," Waller said.

"He has fully recovered and is ready to go."

Even without Rangirangdoo, Waller has a strong team to take on More Joyous with second favourite Triple Elegance, multiple Group One winner Danleigh and Syreon and Altered Boy - if they get into the 20-horse field.

"If Syreon makes the field he will run," Waller said.

"He's well down in the order of entry but we'll see what happens in the morning.

"Altered Boy is also still in the mix but is probably unlikely."

Waller has won two of the past three Doncasters with Triple Honour giving the trainer his first Group One victory in 2008.

Triple Elegance is owned in the same interests and earned his way into the Doncaster with victory in the Group Three Liverpool City Cup.

Syreon, winner of the Group Three Queen's Cup last Saturday week, is also entered for the JRA Plate (1600m) in case he doesn't make the Doncaster field.

Waller has 2010 winner Shellscrape in the Group One Galaxy while Iron Lace will be the stable's representative in the AJC Australian Oaks.

Iron Lace finished sixth, five lengths behind the winner Mirjulisa Lass in the Group One Storm Queen Stakes on April 2 and will have a gear change on Saturday.

"She has done very well but we will take the blinkers off for the Oaks," Waller said.

More Joyous remained the $2 favourite for the Doncaster on Monday with Triple Elegance ($7) and Coolmore Classic winner Aloha ($9) the only others under double figures.
