Toowoomba trainer Mark Webb has no plans to head interstate with Titanium Rock even if the colt is successful again at Eagle Farm.
Titanium Rock and stablemate Dark Knight will clash in Saturday's Graystone Studio Handicap (1400m) with Webb expecting good performances from both three-year-olds.
Titanium Rock scored a narrow victory in three-year-old company over 1500 metres at Eagle Farm last start while Dark Knight was runner-up in a Class 1 on his home track last Saturday.
Webb, who has booked Stathi Katsidis for Titanium Rock, hopes to aim the son of Iglesia for next year's winter carnival instead of crossing the border for the spring.
He believes Titanium Rock has a bright future over longer distances and his recent form hasn't surprised him.
"He's a good horse and his last win proved that," Webb said.
"I want to see how he goes in this race as I'm hoping he'll be a winter carnival horse next year.
"I think he'll run 1600 metres and if he does he could easily develop into a winter horse next year.
"I wouldn't be surprised if he runs 2000 metres and there'll be a lot of races around for him in the winter."
Webb isn't concerned with the slight drop back in distance for Titanium Rock and expects another strong performance from the colt.
"I want to keep him in QTIS races but there was no other race around for him so I had to freshen him up for this," he said.
"He's freshened well and I'm expecting him to hit the line strongly."
Titanium Rock was bred by Oaklands Stud principal Neville Stewart and is a half-brother to Flion Lion who Webb trained before he was tragically injured in the Magic Millions Prelude at the Gold Coast in 2006.
"Flion Lion was a good horse and would have been a chance if he got into the Magic Millions," Webb said.
"I gave him three barrier trials and he won the last by more than six lengths before he had his first start in the Magic Millions Prelude.
"He was well backed in the race but he snapped a leg and had to be put down."
Webb can't compare Flion Lion to Titanium Rock.
"They're two different types," he said.
"Flion Lion was a sprinter whereas this bloke looks like he wants ground."
