Wet track specialist Illuminates could have her Australian career extended beyond Saturday - irrespective of how she races at Rosehill.

Illuminates has been pencilled in for a New Zealand spring campaign and the $100,000 Winter Championship (1500m) is expected to be her Australian swansong.

Claire Bird, racing manager for the mare's owner Gerry Harvey, said plans could change.

"She is definitely going to New Zealand but just when she goes hasn't been confirmed yet," Bird said.

"We'll make a decision after Saturday. If it is still wet in Sydney she could have another run here."

Trainer Graeme Rogerson has set his sights on three New Zealand Group One weight-for-age races ranging in distance from 1400 to 2040 metres to wind up Illuminates' career.

The races are part of a triple crown series held by the Hawke's Bay Racing Club at Hastings.

"She was placed second to Typhoon Tracy in a Group One here in the autumn and it would be nice if she could go one better over there," Bird said.

"Of course, a lot will depend on the tracks. It has to rain for her to be a genuine chance in those races."

Illuminates has been nominated for the Mudgway Stakes (1400m) on August 28, the Windsor Park Plate (1600m) on September 18 and the Spring Classic (2040m) on October 2.

The Spring Classic was known as the Kelt Capital Stakes before a sizeable stakes reduction for 2010.

If her New Zealand campaign goes to plan, the race will almost certainly be the last for Illuminates before she is retired to stud.

Illuminates has an appointment with former Australian sprint star Swiss Ace at New Zealand's Westbury Stud later this year.

A daughter of Strategic, Illuminates has won nine races, including five on rain-affected tracks, but her career highlight came in defeat during the Sydney autumn carnival.

Coming from second last, Illuminates finished second to Typhoon Tracy in the Group One Queen Of The Turf Stakes.

She rediscovered that form two starts ago on a slow track to claim the Civic Stakes only to be posted wide when back in the field before finishing eighth in the Winter Stakes at her most recent start at Rosehill on July 17.

Winter Stakes winner Mr Unforgettable and third placegetter Adnocon are nominated for a return clash with Illuminates in the Winter Championship while Peter Snowden has three entries - Daytona Beach, Falaise and Gergis.

Trainer Chris Waller has nominated Altered Boy and Snow Alert for the end of season feature.
