Premier Gold Coast trainer Gillian Heinrich, like most of her colleagues across southeast Queensland, is partaking in a daily prayer session with the weather gods.

But with torrential rain ruining the past two Saturday metropolitan meetings and more predicted, Heinrich is hopeful rather than confident it will be third time lucky for her grand sprinter Ghetto Blaster at Doomben on Saturday.

Heinrich has floated Ghetto Blaster from her Gold Coast base to Brisbane to start in the George Moore Stakes the previous two Saturdays and, like all of his rivals, the seven-year-old returned home without even breaking into a canter.

"What can you do?" she said.

"It would be very nice if we can get through the meeting this weekend.

"It's been a real pain because he's losing his race fitness with each passing day."

Ghetto Blaster is one 25 nominations for the Listed $200,000 Lough Neagh Stakes at Doomben on Saturday and the hulking gelding will rise in distance from 1200 to 1350m off a 28-day break between runs.

At his last start, Ghetto Blaster charged to the line after being checked near the 800m to finish seventh, a length behind the winner Falco Star in the Keith Noud Quality on November 20.

Adding to Heinrich's concern is the wet track the Lujain gelding will more than likely have to cope with on Saturday on such a light preparation.

"He gets through the wet well but we all know you have to have a very fit racehorse to win on a heavy track," Heinrich said.

"I'm very happy with the way he's going and I was quietly confident going into the George Moore last Saturday but he's hardly had an ideal preparation for this race."

Heavyweight jockey Damian Browne was booked to ride Ghetto Blaster the past two Saturdays and Heinrich confirmed the gifted hoop would ride him in the Lough Neagh.

Ghetto Blaster is one five runners Heinrich has nominated for the Doomben program with three-year-olds Audacious Spirit, Big Chance andSteel Dragon in the $100,000 Gold Edition Plate and old stager Rasmussen in the $75,000 Open Handicap.

"They are all in the same situation as Ghetto Blaster - they're going really well but they need race fitness," she said.

"I couldn't be happier with Rasmussen. I have never had him better at any stage of his career."
