Gillian Heinrich edged closer to claiming her first Group One win when Ghetto Blaster made a triumphant comeback to give the Gold Coast trainer her second success in the Group Two Victory Stakes at Eagle Farm.

Ghetto Blaster, having his first start since his defeat in the Listed Goldmarket Handicap (1300m) on his home track on New Year's Day, made a brilliant return to down The Jackal by 1-1/4 lengths in Saturday's 1200-metre feature.

Albert The Fat, who was last on the home turn, rattled home to fill the minor placing a further three-quarters of a length away.

Ghetto Blaster's win capped a great day for Heinrich who may have another chance at Group One glory in the winter following former north Queenslander Steel Dragon's all-the-way win in the Mount Franklin Handicap (1200m).

Both Ghetto Blaster and Steel Dragon were ridden by Stathi Katsidis who had an outstanding autumn in Sydney winning two Group Ones on Gold Coast stayer Shoot Out in the Randwick Guineas and AJC Australian Derby at Randwick.

He and Heinrich earlier teamed to win the $2 million Magic Millions Classic with Military Rose at the Gold Coast in January.

Heinrich is aiming Ghetto Blaster at three Group Ones during the winter, beginning with the BTC Cup (1200m) at Doomben on May 15 before the Doomben 10,000 (1350m) on May 29 and the Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) at Eagle Farm on June 12.

Heinrich's win with Ghetto Blaster was her second in the feature sprint following All Bar One's win when the race was known as the Sir Byrne Hart Stakes in 2006.

"I've been really happy with him this preparation and he can't do any more than win," Heinrich said.

"I'm really looking forward to the Stradbroke now and he'll be my first runner in the race."

Heinrich has deliberately left room for improvement with the six-year-old who had ligament trouble in a knee as a young horse.

"It was never serious and more immaturity than anything else," she said.

"He was a little on the burly side in the yard today and he'll tidy up a lot more following this run."

Katsidis admitted he was concerned before the race with Ghetto Blaster's big weight of 58.5 kilograms and wide barrier (seven of 10).

"I was really worried about the gate and I didn't want to get caught too far back if it was going to be a slow-run race," he said.

"Being first-up also was a concern but once I got on the back of The Jackal at the 400 metres I was always confident."

Steel Dragon also had to overcame a wide barrier (14) and topweight of 59 kilograms before leading all the way for a three-quarters of a length win over stablemate Big Chance in the Mount Franklin Handicap (1200m).

The son of Hidden Dragon won his first four starts in north Queensland before his owners decided to transferred him to Heinrich.

Heinrich pulled off a masterstroke with Steel Dragon by removing cheekers for the first time and adding winkers on the two-year-old.

"I tried him in blinkers during the week but we decided to just go with winkers," she said.

"I think he can get further than 1200 metres so I'm hoping he'll measure up in the Sires' Produce and possibly the TJ Smith."
