A decision on whether Orca runs in the Randwick Guineas will not be made until Wednesday morning when acceptances are taken for the Group One race.

The AJC Australian Derby aspirant turned in an eye-catching run for third to Rock Song over 1600 metres at Randwick on Saturday but trainer Guy Walter was uncertain about the seven-day back-up.

"He has come through the race well and has worked well since," Walter said.

"I will talk it over with his owner Terry Jarvis before we decide whether to pay up in the morning."

Once that decision is made, Walter will head to Canterbury where he is expecting former country filly Balmont to show the form that reaped three wins in the Riverina region.

The three-year-old won her first three starts at Wagga and Leeton in the spring of 2008 when prepared by Trevor Sutherland.

She was spelled after a chequered run at Canterbury on September 24 and returned with an encouraging fourth to Strawberry Field at the same track on February 19.

"She is a really nice filly who came to me in good order from Wagga," Walter said.

"She has a good alley and a good jockey and I would expect her to be right in it.

"I don't how far she can go this preparation but we are hopeful she will measure up in town."

Balmont has barrier two in the Wolf Blass Wines Handicap (1200m) and will be ridden by Rodney Quinn.

The experienced hoop will also be aboard stablemate Vows in the Tooheys New and Brown Brothers Handicap (1100m).

Topweight with 58 kilos, Vows came to Walter from Crown Lodge which is now exclusively devoted to Sheikh Mohammed's team.

Her only start so far produced a win at Gosford on December 31, 2007 when racing resumed after the equine influenza outbreak.

She has had some problems since her two-year-old days but has performed well with two seconds in recent barrier trials.

"She is also a very nice filly and should go well," Walter said.

The stable's other runner at the meeting is Motive who runs in a 1550-metre maiden, also with Quinn in the saddle.
