An overdue victory by Tromso has kept Chris Waller's remarkable Rosehill record intact, with the trainer racking up at least one winner at the past 16 Saturday meetings on his home track.

Tromso's success in the Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (1500m) was also a first for a Sydney racetrack with Victoria Shaw calling him the winner.

Shaw is the first woman to call a race at a Sydney metropolitan meeting and received the invitation from the Sydney Turf Club after calling at the STC's picnic day celebrating the Melbourne Cup.

Tromso ($2.50) came down the outside to overhaul the leaders and beat Voltabolta ($51) by three-quarters of a length with half a length to Mezmar ($31).

The favourite and race leader Honest Lies ($2.05) weakened to finish fourth.

"The dry track helped him and he also needs space," Waller's racing manager Liam Prior said.

"He doesn't like racing inside horses so things worked out today."

Tromso has promised much but has been costly for punters with Saturday's win coming at his seventh start since he put two wins together in May.
