Two Towers faces his longest and toughest test in the Listed Christmas Cup at Rosehill on Saturday but trainer Wanda Ings is confident the five-year-old is ready to step up to the mark.

Two Towers comes into the 2400-metre race after running fifth to Tommifrancs over 2000m at Rosehill last Saturday when coming from last at the turn with Rod Quinn on board.

Ings, who moved to Australia from New Zealand 20 years ago, was encouraged by the performance from Two Towers who has a couple of wins over 2000 metres, including one at Hawkesbury two starts back.

"He's the type of horse who's got to be flowing into a race to get up to his full speed and he got stopped a couple of times at Rosehill but he kept coming in the finish without ever getting clear running," Ings said.

"We've never tried him over this distance but his racing pattern suggests that he'll get it on his ear and he comes into the race with a great chance."

Ings said she expected Quinn to give Two Towers another quiet ride.

"If you try and hurry him he doesn't finish off and Rodney knows the horse well and how to get the best out of him," Ings said.

"He's had a couple of nice 2000-metre races to get him ready for this and I'd expect to see him charging home, he's a nice horse."

Ings, who has 10 horses in work at Hawkesbury, is happy to see a bit of rain in Sydney this week.

Two Towers' win at Hawkesbury on November 19 was on a heavy track.

"We've been blessed with the weather, while he handles any going a wet track will bring the pack back to him and there will be some of them won't handle it at all," Ings said.

Ings is expecting the exciting Hawkes partnership-trained Rainbow Styling to set a solid tempo but she is hoping he will be vulnerable having not raced since his November 26 victory at Warwick Farm over 2100 metres.

"I'm hoping our recent runs might give us some sort of edge over him but he's from a very astute stable and I'm sure he'll give us all something to catch," Ings said.

Two Towers has been unusually lively since his last start and that has Ings looking forward to Saturday.

"He's pulled up better than ever from that run and I said to Rodney the other day that he's bucking his way around the yard," Ings said.

"And that's pretty unusual for him because he's such a casual dude, so he's ready to run a big race."
